Read Acts 20:1-7 and Acts 2:42.

Central to our worship together is “breaking bread,” a spiritual meal called “the Lord’s Supper”. We too gather together on the first day of the week to “break bread,” to have fellowship with the Lord and with one another in this supper (cf. 1 Co. 10:16-17).

      1. “Supper” (deipnon G1173) is the main meal of the day, timing (afternoon or evening) may vary but the emphasis is on prominence
   3. Family Meal
      1. “We came together” (Ac. 20:7; 1 Co. 11:20-21, 33-34)
      2. “Each one takes his own supper first” (1 Co. 11:17-21)
   4. Spiritual Meal (1 Co. 11:20-22, 23-26, 33-34)
3. What We Remember: “My Body… My Blood”
   1. “This is My Body Which is Given For You” (cf. He. 10:5-10)
   2. “This Cup is the New Covenant in My Blood Which is Poured Out for Many for Forgiveness of Sins” (cf. Ex. 24:3-8; He. 9:18-22; cf. He. 9:11-14, 22b)
   3. “This is My Body… This is My Blood…”
   4. “A Fellowship” or “Sharing” (1 Co. 10:16-17)
4. The Fruit of Remembering: “We Know Love by this…”
   1. We See God’s Hatred for Sin
   2. We See God’s Love for the Sinner (cf. Ro. 5:5-10; 8:32, 39)
   3. We See Jesus’ Obedience (cf. Jn. 12:27-28; Mt. 26:38-39, 42, 44; He. 5:7-8)
   4. We Learn to Love Others (cf. 1 Jn. 3:16-17; 4:9-11; cf. 1 Co. 11:27)
